There were some meow-velous red carpet moments—and some outlandish ones—from Jared Leto’s Choupette tribute, which gave new meaning to the word catsuit, to the football field-length Karl Lagerfeld cape on Jeremy Pope, designed by Balmain. The queen and king of the red carpet, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, finally arrived at nearly 10 p.m., resplendent in white floral Valentino and Gucci tartan, respectively.
Lauren Santo Domingo, in 1988 Chanel couture, ascended the stairs at the same time as Lil Nas X, in his full-body silver paintsuit , resulting in a meme-worthy shot, while elsewhere on the carpet Dwayne Wade and Brittney Griner shared a touching moment.after dinner, followed by a parade of after-parties, from Chanel’s at the Mercer, Karl’s NYC hotel of choice, to Stella McCartney and Baz Luhrmann’s at ZeroBond, Anne Hathaway and Jeremy Strong’s at the Nines, and Diddy’s at the Box.
The take away from the evening was a glamorous return to elegance in honor of Karl—a line of beauty indeed!
