San Diego Section gets three home games and three away game for first round of state football playoffs

Mater Dei Catholic , the Division I champion and ranked No. 42 in the state, travels to No. 58 Downey , the Southern Section Division 4 champion Friday. “I heard we might be traveling to Fresno, so getting a home game is a huge bonus,” said Granite Hills coach Kellan Cobbs. “We came out of our game Saturday pretty healthy. Normally, I like playing Friday, but since we played Saturday this week, a Saturday game gives us extra time to regroup. I’m just excited to still be playing.”
Classical Academy , the Division V champion and ranked No. 419, hosts No. 429 Lancaster Friday at Del Norte High.
