Victorian health authorities have revealed a key Covid isolation rule that could save people from being locked up over Christmas.
The revelation comes amid changes to the state’s isolation orders, meaning a person will be deemed a household contact if they have spent four hours indoors with a positive case.
Those who came into casual contact with an Omicron case had previously been advised to get tested and quarantine for seven days if fully vaccinated. But now, non-household contacts will just be advised to get a PCR test and isolate until they get a negative result. Those who are deemed close contacts must get tested and isolate for seven days if fully vaccinated or 14 days if not.“Have Christmas on the veranda or reduce your time inside a house with others to less than four hours,” a statement read.
