Queensland has recorded one new COVID19 infection as it was revealed an extra 2000 cops would hit the beat over the next five years.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the new COVID infection was a person in hotel quarantine and takes the number of active cases in the state to eight.

The Premier also announced an additional 2025 police personnel for Queensland over the next five years, which she said was the largest investment in the force in the past 30 years.Source:News Corp Australia Another 50 officers will be added to the Child Protection Investigation Unit, while the communications, prosecutions and watch house unit will be boosted by 300 staff.
