was set to permanently close Tuesday after operating out of the historic Don Lee Building on the corner of Van Ness Avenue and O’Farrell streets for just shy of two years.
Jordan Covington, an employee of the movie theater, confirmed the closure to SFGATE on Monday afternoon as a handful of customers trickled in for screenings ofand “Everything Everywhere All At Once.” The theater’s website does not list any movie showtimes after Tuesday. Covington said that he and at least 15 other employees had been notified about two weeks earlier.

“There’s been a lot of problems, honestly,” he said. “This is the only [CGV] location in the city. It was a hard time for a new company to start up here. We get a couple of people here and there and they ask, ‘Oh, is anyone coming in? We come here all the time and this big space is just empty.’”
