As fire rained down on his car and the road before him disappeared into a tunnel of flames, La Sabri's passenger urged him to turn back.
Mr Sabri was leaving the small village of Buxton in New South Wales yesterday afternoon when he and his passenger found themselves trapped in a firestorm. Two firefighters were killed and three others injured after the massive Green Wattle Fire swept through towns in south west of Sydney.Three other fire fighters were injured in conditions one fire boss described as "as bad as it gets".
"Turn back around bro," Mr Sabri's passenger can be heard saying in a video of the terrifying encounterAs he continues driving, the flashing lights of police cars can be seen streaking across the orange sky choked in thick smoke.Asked whether he should turn around, Mr Sabri's passenger instantly agrees.It got so hot in the region a firefighting hose melted onto the ground.
About 40 homes are thought to have been lost in the villages of Buxton and Bargo in Mcarthur, south west of Sydney.
