It’s one thing to collapse. It’s another to simply run out of time. 𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 is running out for Stephen Jaeger. He's so close to a career-changing feat. Did he feel the pressure? BrodyAMiller has more.

So while the playoff finish between Lucas Glover and Patrick Cantlay ended a great tournament with a big win for the 43-year-old Glover, it was the battle to make the top 50 that carried the most actual significance. Especially considering most golfers hanging around that 50 mark are the ones who make a fraction of the top stars. Playing in all eight events essentially guarantees around $400,000 in earnings with the potential for millions. And the final two FedEx events also carry larger purses.

He’s playing well. He’s hitting fairways. He puts 10 of his first 11 approach shots in putting range. But it goes: par-par-par-par-par-par. He finally birdies No. 7, a hole after his caddy had Shelby rub the putter for good luck, only to par eight more straight. It’s hot. Not just summer hot. It’s players having back sweat before they tee off hot. Jordan Spieth called it “humbling.” Justin Rose said it was the strongest heat he’s felt, period, in more than a year, the air so thick that breathing requires more effort. Jaeger has a great idea, though. Before every single hole, he takes one of those thin neck towels and throws it in the cooler by the tee.

Improved distance with his driver has given Stephen Jaeger, 34, a better chance of success on the PGA Tour. He then goes to the par 3 No. 14 with a big grandstand behind it looking out on the water that surrounds this 206-yard downhill shot. At this point even Shelby isn’t following , but Jaeger hits his best shot of the day. He gets aggressive and goes right at the back right pin with only a few yards of green between the pin and the water. And he sticks it 10 feet from the cup. The crowd roars, easily the loudest this group has heard all day. He gets his moment.
