Online learner driver tests have been rolled out to most states, most recently NSW, with young people living in regional WA now calling for a similar program to be implemented in theirs.
There are growing calls for states such as Western Australia to rollout an online, at-home learner theory test.
Last week, New South Wales introduced a new at-home learner theory test, which can be accessed at any time from a personal device, and re-sat multiple times without users incurring a fee. "There's a bunch of young people out in Geraldton who I know are still struggling with their licence," he said."So, that'd be really, really, really good."
Mr Mongoo said while people would still face barriers with an at-home test, it would provide more options.Limited transport options "You have the chance to repeat them if you fail, without charges, and you have a lot more time to pay more attention and learn them in depth."Demand for driving lessons is strong among women, but a lack of female instructors is putting some of them off taking the test."We're currently working with a community, Bellbrook, and they are about half an hour out of a main town," she said."It would make it a lot easier doing it from home.
