There’s no groundswell among voters for Congress to force Donald Trump to release his tax returns, according to a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll
Predictably, the issue broke sharply along party lines, with 77 percent of Democrats saying it should be a priority, but only 19 percent of Republicans agreeing. Among independents, 49 percent considered it a priority.House Democrats say they are preparing to order the Treasury Department to turn Trump’s tax returns over to the Ways and Means Committee, which could also try to make them public.
