With Fiona attacking the electrical grid that provides power to the entire country, the island was plunged into darkness, again. This also affected the water supply. If this sounds like a telenovela , it is — because of certain realities of living in Puerto Rico.In September 2017, Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico. The U.S.
Tourism is a big part of the economy, and obviously many flights to Puerto Rico have been canceled. With the country in recovery mode, this industry will take at least six months to recover, in my opinion. In addition to the flooding that occurred, trees were also uprooted, destroying property around them. The people of Puerto Rico are hoping that this time around the U.S. government will be more responsive to their needs in order to recover from this latest tragedy to come their way.
We are a nonprofit 501 and part of the House of Pacific Relations. We have a cottage located in the International Cottage section of the park. Our mission is to educate the public about the history and culture of Puerto Rico. We are celebrating our 50th anniversary as an organization this year. While we are a cultural organization based in San Diego, we also want to help the people who live in Puerto Rico whenever we can.
