,” : I have lived in the Houston Heights for over 25 years. Back then, crossing 11th Street was a wait of maybe 15 seconds at most for traffic to clear and usually there was no wait. Yesterday I had to wait at least two minutes in order to cross, primarily because the traffic was spread out and was not traveling in bunches.

About twenty years ago, I was broadsided at Roberts Road and U.S. 290 where there was only flashing lights then. The other driver had become irritated and tired of waiting to cross and took a chance he normally would not have. Anger results when the person’s expectations are different from reality. I am sure many people have experienced long waits in traffic and the resulting squealing of tires of impatient drivers acting irrationally.

Another concern is the number of apartments which have been built in the “Heights” area in the last five years. I estimated it to be at least 2000. Since most of the jobs in the area are in the food industry, I believe the new residents will need a vehicle which will increase traffic on 11th Street.
