,” : I am totally with the concept of voting for candidates that espouse solutions to the issues that align with the values and beliefs of the voters. That concept is foreign to a majority of voters, which is dismaying. When I was growing up in the ‘60s and ‘70s, everyone that I knew was totally Democrat and anyone that had an independent outlook was shamed.

“Vote the issues” is the topic of your opinion piece, but issues like abortion and global warming are sometimes lower in the polls than the issues most directly affecting the public, like the economy, fuel and food shortages, crime, and political division. Your paragraph about one-party rule should also be considered when discussing the national agenda, given the state our country is in.

By the way, if people had been performing their duty instead of chanting divisive partisan slogans, they would already know where, in voting, their allegiance should belong. They would have voted more intelligently in the primaries instead. Also, they wouldn’t depend solely on the recommendations published by any number of biased organizations; they’d understand the facts.
