Opinion: San Diego needs a city manager with real experience [Opinion]
” : I don’t know many of the Ash Street building details, but I do believe that the strong mayor system of government adopted by the city of San Diego to save a few hundred thousand dollars for a city manager salary is now about to cost the city taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars.
We know a couple of things about Todd Gloria: he is no attorney, holding degrees in history and political science. He apparently relies far more on his degree in political science than his history degree, given that he continues to make the same mistakes over and over. The fact that Mayor Gloria is putting his own personal politics ahead of city objectives tells me we are way past due bringing back a city manager with the actual education and experience to address these types of issues working with other experts.
