Hollywood walks out! Oppenheimer's A-listers leave their own premiere amid actors' strike
Matt Damon and Emily Blunt were among the star-studded cast of Oppenheimer who walked out of the film's UK premiere to support Hollywood strike action on Thursday evening.
Cast members appeared visibly emotional as they posed for photographs on the red carpet before exiting and making their way back to their London hotels. Oppenheimer director Christopher Nolan later said the cast had left the event to “write their picket signs”. “Unfortunately, they are off to write their picket signs for what we believe to be an imminent strike by SAG, joining one of my guilds, the Writers Guild, in the struggle for fair wages for working members of their union.”
Members of the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists – previously voted overwhelmingly to authorise a strike if a new contract with major studios, streamers and production companies could not be reached.
