An Orange Order parade that was due to go past a catholic church has been re-routed.to ask to change the details of the route of the procession.
Parishioners and a campaign group Call it Out, which had previously protested at Orange parades in the east end, had separately requested the council order a re-route but were told there were no grounds to impose any changes.Call it Out announced it would be holding a protest against the march outside the church.The details of the parade have now been updated on the council website to reflect the changed route.
A spokesman for Glasgow City Council said: “The organiser has notified the council of their intention to amend the route of their procession on Friday.It is understood the organisers came to the decision themselves without any contact from the police or council.
