There's the miracle try scored by Mark Coyne in 1994. The Queenslanders were down 12-4 with five to go in the series opener before Coyne set up Willie Carne for a try that set the stage for an almighty finish. You can still picture the ball being passed through the hands of Langer, Walters, Renouf and Hancock. Ray 'Rabs' Warren summed it up best declaring "that's not a try, it's a miracle".
Who'll ever forget Freddy's farewell game in 2004. Timmins, Gower, Orford, Kimmorley and Barrett were all missing, forcing then coach Phil Gould to plead with Brad Fittler to come out of representative retirement to spearhead the Blues. 'Freddy' scored the last try as NSW wrapped up the series.
He was a tough halfback who represented NSW on 24 occasions and played 29 games for Australia in Tests and World Cup matches - twice as captain. Even though they hated each other at Origin time, Tommy's best mate was Arthur Beetson who, under eligibility rules in the pre-State of Origin era was forced to represent NSW because he was based in Sydney, but when Origin was born, his legacy was enshrined in Maroon.
