The 41-year-old victim’s pelvis was fractured in the July 25 collision, prosecutors said.

MARTINEZ – Contra Costa County prosecutors on Friday charged a 73-year-old Orinda man with felony hit and run for his alleged role in a crash that injured a cyclist in Pinole.

The collision was reported in the 2100 block of Appian Way shortly after 5 p.m. on July 25. In a statement, the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office said Joseph Kish hit a cyclist with his vehicle and did not stop. The cyclist, a 41-year-old Oakland man, fell to the ground and fractured his pelvis, according to prosecutors.

The district attorney’s office said the victim managed to make his way to a nearby motel, where he called police. A witness also provided authorities with a statement and photos. Kish was later identified as the driver of the vehicle that hit the cyclist, according to prosecutors.
