Ah, so that explains it. Sort of.
Earlier I posted on the Twitter-enabled fan favorite moment, in which Zack Snyder came out on top with his cut ofwas in there when this was supposed to be about films released in 2021. Now we’ve had the other fan favorite award and all is clear. As mud. The earlier one was the Oscars cheer moment. I think. This one was the fan fave film of the year. Probably.Good for him, and if it got people hanging around to see the outcome live good for the broadcasters too. But really the clear winner here is the community of fanboys/girls who mobilised to get a moment in the Oscars spotlight for a bunch of filmmakers and movies that would otherwise be overlooked. And I guess that was the point, so mission accomplished.
“But I can well imagine a lot of Academy members being left cold by its subtlety, its willingness to not explain everything, and because it’s a preferential voting system a movie that might come in at number two or three on a lot of people’s ballots could sneak through instead,” he says.
