South Australian Liberal leader Steven Marshall has announced he is stepping down from the helm after a considerable loss in the state election.
Mr Marshall and the Liberals lost the leadership to Peter Malinauskas and the Labor Party over the weekend with the Labor party currently holding 29 seats to the Liberals 13.

Offer ends 31 October, 2022. “I thank all my past and current colleagues for their support over the past nine years and will do all that I can to assist the new Liberal leader to succeed,” he said.In the statement Mr Marshall said he would resign as Liberal leader as soon as the party room could meet and elect his successor.
In his statement Mr Marshall acknowledged some of the achievements his government had accomplished during their time in power including the abolishment of payroll tax for small businesses.
