Delays in complaint handling and disputes with insurers are an ongoing issue for victims of last year’s Northern Rivers flooding.
More than 2000 complaints from the Northern New South Wales and South East Queensland floods have been lodged with the Australian Financial Complaints Authority, a year after the devastating weather event.
The Australian Financial Complaints Authority’s Justin Untersteiner says the number of complaints is significant. “We do have a level of sympathy for the industry – they have received more claims than they’ve ever received before.”
