Over $5.7 million in Texas Veterans Commission grants have been awarded to 26 North Texas programs.
to 26 North Texas veteran service organizations Friday at Dallas City Hall, with presentations by TVC vice chairwoman Kimberlee Shaneyfelt.
These grants from the TVC’s Fund for Veterans’ Assistance program are generated primarily by Texas Lottery Commission games designated for veteran support, according to a news release. Top awards of $500,000 went to Dallas County Veterans Treatment Court, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Garland, Meals On Wheels of Tarrant County and Collin County Veterans Treatment Court.
Grants of $300,000 went to Tarrant County Veterans Treatment Court, Collin County Clinical Counseling Services and United Way of Denton County.This year, TVC has awarded almost $31.5 million to 139 programs estimated to reach more than 22,000 veterans, according to the news release.
