Six weeks out from the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics, Ian Chesterman is upbeat about preparedness amid the coronavirus pandemic, saying he expects the majority of athletes from around the world will have been vaccinated.

"We're very pleased that over 80 per cent of everybody in the Olympic village will have been vaccinated and we know the Japanese are working very hard in having good protocols," he said."We're very pleased with the energy the Japanese government, the Japanese organisers are putting into making a safe environment in Tokyo, and now, after all of this, we can focus on the sport.

Jones said she hoped it was not the case that Groves felt like she was forced to resort to social media because "she couldn't speak up" within the team.
