NRL: With the news Luke Keary will retire, and the clubs searching for a halfback, the NRL 360 crew says locking down Sam Walker in a long term deal must be a top priority for the Roosters.
Walker, who is coming off arguably the best game of his young career in the Anzac Day thumping of the Dragons, is contracted with the Roosters to the end of the 2025 season.
“Sam Walker has got next year to go. He’s free to talk to rival clubs from November 1,” Rothfield said on“I think on his Anzac Day game, he will now be banging on that $1 million door as the long-term halfback at the Roosters. Last season, he had a chequered campaign, having been dropped to NSW Cup and then injured, meaning he only played in 10 NRL games.
In addition to Keary’s retirement, which will reportedly save the Roosters $800,000 in 2025, Joey Manu, Joseph Suaalii, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves are confirmed to be leaving the club at the end of this season.
