Oxford Road cordoned off by police due to man on roof of multi-storey car park
A main road in Manchester was cordoned off on Tuesday night due to a man on the roof of a multi-storey car park in the city centre. Oxford Road was closed off temporarily as emergency services dealt with the incident.
A cordon was erected by police between Chepstow Street and Whitworth Street, on the busy A34 bus route beside the McDonald's. A huge emergency services response was pictured at the scene shortly after 9pm, with the ambulance and fire service also in attendance. Multiple fire engines and a Technical Response Unit attended the incident. It has since been confirmed the man has been assisted off the roof of the NCP car park building and is now understood to be in custody.
“The crews arrived quickly at the scene. Firefighters used specialist equipment and worked with colleagues from Greater Manchester Police to assist the man off the roof of the car park. Firefighters were in attendance for around half an hour.” Read the latest news here.
