No COLA for seniors on Social Security, but no limit whatsoever on what Pennsylvania legislators spend to benefit themselves.
Pennsylvania’s Property Tax and Rent Rebate program aids Pennsylvania seniors. But Social Security and pension cost of living adjustments have put many who relied on the rebates over the program’s income limits.
The legislation is consistent with Gov. Josh Shapiro’s proposal as part of his 2023-2024 budget to increase the maximum rebate for people age 65 and older from $650 to $1,000 a year and increase the maximum income cap from $35,000 to $45,000 a year.
