Jenkinson's Boardwalk padlocked beach entrances in mid-September, triggering a standoff with state officials.
The reversal by Jenkinson’s came after the state Department of Environmental Protection conducted an inspection and warned the company that it was potentially in violation of its permit and the Coastal Area Facilities Review Act.
“Attention residents and guests! Jenkinson’s main pavilion gate, inlet pavilion gate and Forman Ave access points now are all open to the beach,”The DEP’s letter, dated Sept. 19, did not impose a penalty and stated that Jenkinson’s, a private company, would have an opportunity to “voluntarily take corrective actions.”Kanitra said in a previous social media post that the closures started on Sept. 12.
