Padres' Joe Musgrove, who won World Series with 2017 Astros, says he doesn't 'feel great' about it
the day before Musgrove’s Padres open a best-of-three Wild Card playoff series against the Mets, likely will draw more attention with the Astros trying to reach their fourth World Series in the past six years.
“I still don’t feel great about wearing that ring around or telling people that I was a World Series champion on that team,” Musgrove said in the AP story. “I want one that feels earned and that was a true championship. So that’s the goal.” Two months after the Astros won the 2017 championship, Musgrove was traded to Pittsburgh as part of the deal that brought Gerrit Cole to Houston.
At his third spring training with the Pirates, shortly after the Astros’ cheating details came to light, Musgrove defended his former teammates, saying he thought other teams were taking advantage of technology to steal signals, but he also said of the championship, “He added, “I’m glad to be out of there. I think everything has been handled already. MLB’s report was even more than I knew was going on. I’m still finding out stuff.
