Not looking like Machado will be back when he first becomes eligible to return from IL, but he is making 'progress'

It was Nationals catching and strategy coach Henry Blanco that Soto told before the game he was going to go deep. And he did just that, blasting a 441-foot homer in the sixth inning as part of a night in which he went 3-for-3 with a walk. “It feels amazing – the fans, how they feel, how thankful they feel for what we’ve done here in this ballpark and for this organization,” Soto said. “I’m really happy that they enjoy it and they’re still proud of what I did.”
“A lot of memories, a lot of a lot of wins, a championship,” he said. “... I was with those guys since day one.”Manny Machado hit off a tee and played long toss Tuesday, which were both steps toward a return from a fracture in his left hand.But there probably remains too little time to make the necessary steps to return by Friday, the first day he is eligible to come off the injured list.
