The final results are in, but it’s still unclear who will govern Pakistan after a controversial and polarising general election.
The country’s powerful military had been pushing for the Pakistan Muslim League, led by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to take power. But in a shock result independent candidates backed by Imran Khan gained the most seats. Today has seen street protests, and further allegations of vote rigging levelled by Khan’s allies, whilst both sides say they’ll try and form a government.
