A community advocate and a supermarket manager say an altercation at a liquor outlet shows that a change to policing in Alice Springs is leading to an increase in violence.
A supermarket manager and an action group member are criticising the removal of PALIs in Alice Springs.There is a call for the government to buy back liquor licenses from stores that do not have a fixed police presence.
"We haven't heard anything from the government about about those two poor people who were who were assaulted.Mr Holden disagreed with Mr Potter's statement that there was an adequate police presence at bottle shops. Mr Holden said police were contacted on Saturday but did not arrive until after the supermarket had closed.People's Alcohol Action Coalition spokesperson John Boffa said Mr Potter should live in Alice Springs for two weeks to witness the impact of his policy decisions."We're suffering — we're the ones telling him we're suffering."We saw what happened last time when Stronger Futures was removed," he said.
