Jack Gibson-Burrell, accused of the Pam the Bird graffiti, is considering a holistic plea deal to resolve over 200 charges as he appeared in Melbourne Magistrates' Court.

Jack Gibson-Burrell, the man accused of spray-painting Pam the Bird graffiti across Melbourne, is considering a plea deal to resolve all charges against him. His defence lawyer Micky Milardovic told Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Tuesday that a holistic offer would be put to prosecutors between now and November.

The offer would encompass a raft of similar charges currently before the County Court. Gibson-Burrell appeared via video link from Melbourne Remand Centre for about seven minutes. For nearly all of that time, the public could only see the back of his shaved head. During earlier court appearances, he arrived and left shielding his face or dressed in a Spider-Man costume.

On Monday, he sat largely unmoving from the remote room. Milardovic told magistrate Avi Furstenberg that the result and future of the cases would become clearer after the offer is made. He also noted, I did see the back of his head up on the screen there a moment ago, your honour. The video link then dropped out unexpectedly.

Standoff at Bolte Bridge Demands

Gibson-Burrell has been in custody since his arrest at the base of the Bolte Bridge. That followed an eight-hour stand-off with police after he allegedly tagged the Melbourne landmark with a 20-metre representation of Pam the Bird. Police say demands were posted on an Instagram account allegedly connected to the accused. He allegedly refused to come down until unspecified taxes were lowered and a peanut butter and jam sandwich was prepared and delivered to him.

He was later charged with 13 offences, including contravening bail conditions, committing an indictable offence while on bail, burglary, criminal damage, conduct endangering life, conduct endangering serious injury, and graffiti-related offences. He was also one of the first adults charged under Victoria's post and boast laws. Those laws came into effect in August last year. They criminalise posting images, audio, text, or videos of serious crimes, such as theft and burglary, to social media.

Over 200 Vandalism Charges Facing

Gibson-Burrell has pleaded not guilty to more than 200 charges related to vandalism. The charges cover buildings across Melbourne and Geelong, with cleanup estimated to cost more than $700,000. He also faces charges of aggravated burglary and car theft.

Additionally, he is charged with intentionally causing injury after allegedly stabbing a man with a kitchen knife, and with an earlier unprovoked incident. Police allege Gibson-Burrell painted the Pam the Bird image at several Melbourne sites. These include the Flinders Street Station clock, the side of the Novotel Hotel in South Wharf, and one of Melbourne's much-loved cheese sticks at the start of Flemington Road. They allege he is the sole person behind the Pam the Bird tags.

Court Dates And Remand Status

Gibson-Burrell is due to face the County Court later this month. He will then return to the Melbourne Magistrates' Court in November. He was remanded in custody, and no application for bail was made.
