The parents of baby Indi Gregory are 'angry, heartbroken and ashamed' after the eight-month-old baby died following the removal of life support machines. Indi had been the subject of a number of high court rulings after Nottingham University Hospitals Trust, which treated Indi at QMC, argued it would be more compassionate to remove treatment.
Following a protracted legal battle, Indi's ventilator tubes were turned off on Saturday afternoon, November 11, and she was taken to a nearby hospice, where she died at 1.45am on Monday, November 13. Lawyers who represented Indi and her parents - Dean Gregory and Claire Staniforth, from Ilkeston - have now questioned the decisions made by the court. The eight-month-old had incurable mitochondrial disease - a condition that stops her cells' mitochondria from producing enough energy.
