The partnership will include a health clinic, a community hospital and a medical office building on 68 acres near the Texas A&M San Antonio campus.

The facilities would be built on approximately 68 acres proximal to TAMU-SA campus at the corner of South Zarzamora and Jaguar Parkway, south of Loop 410 — an area that is developing rapidly. While University Health has existing mobile health units it will use in the area in the immediate term, current projections estimate the hospital would open in 2027 and that smaller clinical facilities would open before that time.
“Unfortunately, public health access is not equal across the county,” said George B. Hernández Jr., University Health president and CEO, in March. “Certain areas of unincorporated Bexar county need additional support.” Alsip added the partnership will expand medical education opportunities for TAMU-SA students through the TAMU Health Science Center based in Bryan-College Station.
