Ravenshoe Hotel publican Wendy Stanford said her temperature gauge showed 2 degrees at 6:30am but a breeze made the morning feel even colder. Weather bureau forecaster Steven Hadley said parts of Queensland were colder than many capital cities around the country."Right across Queensland, even getting into some of the tropical areas which do not often see temperatures as cold as they have done over the last few days," he said."Many places in Queensland have been colder than that.

"Didn't venture out till 6.45am … veggie patch was hit hard but the blueberries are great," she said."Pumpkins have ice all over them and the gate was a tad hard to open and close. Minimum was negative 0.7 ... 0.1 less than yesterday."Local Matthew Hidderd said "it's a really beautiful winter morning" on his property at The Summit north of Applethorpe where he trains truffle detection dogs for the truffle farms around the region.
