Parts of NSW and Queensland have been warned to brace for severe winds and dangerous surf this morning with gusts of 100km/ hour expected. 9News

Residents from Pot Macquarie in NSW to Springbrook near the Queensland border will be affected.

In New South Wales, damaging wind gusts will impact parts of the Northern Rivers, the Mid-North Coast and Northern Tablelands. Strong southerly winds will average 50 to 60km/hour but could reach 100km/hour, particularly between Crowdy Head and Cape Byron, including Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour and Ballina.

"This potential for damaging wind gusts is expected through much of this morning, gradually easing from late morning or early afternoon."Residents between Coffs Harbour and Cape Byron are also warned of dangerous surf with waves of over five metres possible.A flood watch has been issued for parts of the Mid North Coast catchments and the Orara, Paterson and Williams Rivers with minor flooding possible.
