Up to half of the tracks around Mount Arapiles will become off-limits under proposed changes to the Dyurrite Cultural Landscape draft management plan.

The area, located in western Victoria, is home to one of the largest stone quarry complexes found in the country with rock art and scar trees dating back 3000 years.Bridget McKenzie flight upgrades 'completely different' from PM allegations, Angus Taylor saysThe state government said the updated management plan provided certainty for the Traditional Owners, represented by the Barengi Gadjin Land Council, and all users of the state park.

"It's important we get the balance right, respect cultural heritage and allow Victorians to continue to visit and enjoy the outdoors in the Dyurrite Cultural Landscape," Minister for Treaty and First Peoples Natalie Hutchins said.Bans imposed in 2020 on several climbing areas, including Declaration Crag, Tiger Wall, and Castle Crag will remain.Climbers have condemned the move, saying it would wipe out the community.

"Parks Victoria and the Victorian Government continue their destruction of the Australian climbing community by enlarging climbing bans at Arapiles and ignoring the majority users in any form of consultation," Save Grampians Climbing said.
