A luxury cruise liner that evacuated half of its passengers after experiencing engine trouble during a storm has arrived in port in Norway. 9News A passenger has described the terror on board a cruise ship as its captain’s voice rang out:
“They announced that not only had we gathered there to start putting on our life jackets, but that the captain had also declared a mayday,” she told Today.
“And so that's another sign that they don't close watertight doors unless there's water coming aboard somewhere. A gash from rocks tore a hole in one side and she started to list, with water pouring in. It took six hours to evacuate the 4000 passengers and crew.In 2007 two people went missing, presumed dead after the MS Sea Diamond ran aground off the Greek Island of Santorini.
More than 4000 passengers were asked to relieve themselves in showers and plastic bags, after all but five toilets stopped working.
