A bus has been destroyed by fire in the inner Sydney suburb of Glebe during the Monday evening peak hour, sending smoke over nearby Victoria Park.
Commuters stopped to take photos and videos of the bus on Parramatta Road when it burst into flames at about 6pm.Superintendent Luke Unsworth from Fire and Rescue NSW said crews arrived to find the bus well alight. He said the quick actions of the bus driver managed to evacuate all of the passengers.Connor Wherrett, from Glebe, was on a bus heading in the opposite direction when it stopped and he wondered what was going on.
"There was just a bus flaming on fire," he said. "When I saw it, it was just police stopping the street, and then about five minutes later a fire truck."Superintendent Unsworth said they were expected to remain there for several hours, which is likely to cause traffic delays.
