FILE - – A Delta Air Lines flight returned to Amsterdam Tuesday because of an “improperly packed carry-on bag” that was brought on the plane, but some passengers suggest it was something else.that maggots were falling from the overhead bin after someone packed rotting fish in their luggage.
Passengers are generally allowed to bring food on airplanes as long as it is properly packed and doesn’t contain more than the regulatory limit for liquids. Flight tracker FlightAware shows the plane, which was bound for Detroit, only made it as far as England before turning back. One passenger told the Daily Mail that those on the plane were given air miles, hotel room vouchers and meal tickets if they were delayed overnight.
In a statement to USA Today, Delta said it apologizes to customers on that plane and that they were put on the next available flight.
