Patrick Stewart shares a photo from the premiere of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and makes the perfect joke about his role as Professor X. Stewart first made his debut as Professor Charles Xavier in 2000's X-Men, which helped to kick off the contemporary era of comic book movies. Seven films later, his portrayal has become synonymous with the character.

Following the release of the first Multiverse of Madness trailer, Stewart initially played coy before confirming his Marvel return as Charles Xavier. Recent marketing has revealed more of his character, including a X-Men accurate yellow wheelchair reminiscent of the one used by Professor X in the comics and X-Men: The Animated Series — which has led many to believe Stewart is playing a variant of Professor X rather than the version audiences know from the Fox franchise.
Stewart’s appearance in Multiverse of Madness makes him the longest-running actor to portray the same Marvel character. Having him reprise his role adds weight to the proceedings and is likely why they decided to reveal Professor X's involvement during the film’s promotional campaign. As a result, Stewart may be the only “surprise cameo” to ever attend the red carpet for an MCU film.
