"I want to give back to millions of people and their children and future generations way beyond my life expectancy," he says.When Liberty State Park was created in 1976, the state promised to clean up the pollution and implement new recreational and open space opportunities for all.

The plan also calls for more than 500 acres of open space for passive recreation, enhancements to existing estuaries, community gardens and the creation of more than 12 miles of new walking, jogging, and bike paths. Paul Fireman says of the multimillion-dollar plan to overhaul the park, "I’m getting nothing out of this except the pleasure of knowing that the people of New Jersey will be able to enjoy Liberty State Park for generations to come."
