PaulOGrady's funeral sees EastEnders star and rock royalty mourn Lily Savage comic
The much-loved television star, who devastatingly died earlier this month, is being laid to rest in a private ceremony preceded by a procession which the public have been encouraged to attend.
Paul found fame as Lily Savage, his wisecracking and witty drag persona, and went on to enjoy decades in the spotlight, hosting his own chat show and becoming a radio regular. Later in life, he won over a whole new legion of fans with Love of Dogs, a show which saw the animal-loving star meeting the adorable pooches being looked after at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.
And as Paul is being laid to rest, dogs from the home are forming a sweet guard of honour at the procession.Pupils and teachers from Aldington Primary School paid their respects to Paul by putting together a series of collages that featured their drawings of dogs. One large banner dedicated to the star read: "Thank you Mr O'Grady".
