Going into the fight with a 5-0 record, Paul was criticised for taking on Silva, who has only recently started boxing after a decorated career in MMA, and not someone with better boxing credentials. Silva is also 22 years his senior.But none of that seemed to matter once they got in the ring. Neither fighter was able to really get the upper hand until Paul scored the only knockdown early in the eighth and final round.
