The Portuguese midfielder is poised to make the switch to Glasgow before the window shuts, it's been suggested.
Paul Bernardo would appear to be on his way to Celtic as it is claimed that a season-long deal has been just about agreed.
The 21-year-old is a product of the Benfica academy and will walk the same path as countryman Jota, who swapped Portugal for Glasgow on a season-long loan deal in 2021 before making his move permanent last year. He's now with Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia but Hoops chiefs have gone to the Liga NOS side again with Brendan Rodgers keen to add quality ahead of their Champions League group stage tilt.
Reports emerged earlier this week ahead of September 1st's transfer deadline that Bernardo had Celtic as one possible loan solution, with Benfica minutes looking few and far between, having spent the second half of last term at Paços de Ferreira. ZeroZero claim that a season-long loan deal for the midfielder has 'practically everything agreed' between both clubs.
It is not stated in the Portuguese report whether or not an option to buy like they had with Jota has been put to Celtic. Bernardo has appeared 26 times for Benfica and registered two goals and two assists from 13 games in his loan spell away from the club last season.
