Public sector workers including teachers, doctors and nurses will be given a 3 per cent pay increase, up from 2.75 per cent, as well as a $2,500 sign-on bonus.

The WA government has updated its public sector wages policy, in a move Premier Mark McGowan described as an attempt to offset recent rises in inflation.

All public service employees will also be provided with a one-off $2,500 sign-on bonus and a 0.5 per cent superannuation guarantee increase over two years. "We're going to change our wages policy and make it more generous for our public sector workforce who are doing a terrific job, particularly over the COVID period," Mr McGowan said.
