Some of the first travellers from China who had to return a negative COVID-19 test before setting off say they weren’t fazed by the precautionary measures.

Her mother, Gao Jing, said she felt safe in China despite skyrocketing infections, and that she had no problems with Australia’s testing requirements for people arriving from China.“It was easy for us to get tested, and it means everyone can have peace of mind. Different countries have different rules. It is important for everyone to respect them,” Ms Gao said.
Gary Sun had not seen his wife, Tina Wang, for nearly three years. He believes China’s 1.4 billion population mean strict policies are necessary.“Xi Jinping is very powerful, and in China, you need a powerful leader because there is such a huge population.
