Alex Ryvchin, co-CEO of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, has criticised the Albanese government for supporting a United Nations vote on Palestinian sovereignty over their natural resources.

Executive Council of Australian Jewry co-CEO Alex Ryvchin has condemned the Albanese government for backing a UN vote on Palestinian sovereignty over their natural resources.

The UN General Assembly has hence demanded that Israel, being the “occupying power”, cease any hostilities that would endanger natural resources in Palestine, including East Jerusalem, and in the occupied Syrian Golan. “It is disappointing that our government feels the way to end the war and the wider conflict is by pressuring an ally and a democracy that has achieved peace with every Arab party willing to accept it, while asking nothing of the side mired in dysfunction, terrorism and autocracy.

“Australia voted in favour of this resolution alongside more than 155 members of the international community, including the UK, New Zealand, France, Germany and Japan," they told Skynews.com.au. The confiscation of land and the disruption of water resources are also heightening the grim living conditions.

"President Biden has been clear that Israelis and Palestinians equally deserve to live safely and securely and deserve equal measures of freedom, dignity, justice, and prosperity. The United States is firmly committed to supporting the path to a two-state solution through constructive measures," he said.
