Peaky Blinders' Uncle Jack – the true story of his inspiration, Joe Kennedy Sr.
' season six return sees a new addition in Tommy's life in the form of Gina's uncle, Jack Nelson, portrayed by Australian actor James Frecheville.the death of the Blinders' beloved Aunt PollyWhen Tommy had enough of Gina's behaviour during a particularly awkward chat in Boston, he revealed it was because of him her husband was incarcerated – and now he wants a meeting with Uncle Jack.
Only one of those children is still alive today, some having their time cut short by the so-called 'Kennedy curse'. Joe was a world-class philanderer who could name actresses Marlene Dietrich and Gloria Swanson among his partners. At the age of 25, he was president of the Columbia Trust Bank – one of the youngest in that position in America. He would go on to become a stockbroker, where allegations of what we would call insider trading today abounded.
Along with Jack Roosevelt II, eldest son of Franklin D Roosevelt, he founded Somerset Importers – making another small fortune importing British alcohol to his thirsty countrymen. Costello was dead by February of the following year, so he took whatever else he knew to the grave with him.
