Pearl Jam paused their Sydney show on Thursday night to pay tribute to the victims of the mass methanol poisoning incident in Laos after Melbourne teenager Bianca Jones died in a Thailand hospital, while her best friend Holly Bowles fights for life.

Front man Eddie Vedder told the sold out crowd at ENGIE Stadium he was someone with a"sense of travel and adventure", and the"story of the two young girls who's drinks were spiked in Laos" was a"senseless" tragedy. Veddler took a moment and then told fans he did not want his message to be"empty" before calling out to the crowd, “It can’t be empty if there’s 50,000 of us".“We are sending you everything we have got today. We are so sorry," he said.

The teens were sent to separate hospitals in Thailand where Ms Bowles currently remains fighting for her life.
