The Lady Oilers defeated Humble Summer Creek Saturday to advance to play Clear Springs in the regional quarterfinals.It took three hours and oodles of offense, but Pearland persevered Saturday for a 12-9 win over Humble Summer Creek to sweep the teams’ Class 6A area-round softball playoff series at Pearland High School.
The Lady Oilers will next take on District 24-6A champion Clear Springs in a regional quarterfinal matchup. Raenna Liscano drove in five runs on three hits for Pearland, which used a seven-run fourth inning to open a 10-6 lead.Gutierrez finished with six strikeouts.The Lady Bulldogs outhit Pearland, 12-11, but Summer Creek committed three errors while the Lady Oilers were error-free.
Summer Creek charged to a 6-1 lead Saturday, only to see Pearland answer with 10 consecutive runs to build an 11-6 lead. The Lady Bulldogs closed within 11-9 in the sixth inning on a pair of home runs, but Pearland added a run in the bottom of the sixth and then closed out the win in the seventh.Clear Springs swept a doubleheader from Atascocita Friday night as it bids to return to the Region 3-6A championship.
